What is Shriram Long Term Equity Fund?
An open-ended equity linked saving scheme with a statutory lock in of 3 years and tax benefit. The fund shall be investing in a diversified portfolio of predominantly equity and equity-related securities. Eligible investors in the Scheme shall be entitled to deductions of the amount invested in units of the Scheme under Section 80C of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
What is the Investment Objective?
The primary investment objective of the Scheme is to generate income and long-term capital appreciation from a diversified portfolio of predominantly equity and equity-related securities and to enable investors to avail the income tax rebate, as permitted from time to time.
However, there is no assurance or guarantee that the investment objective of the Scheme will be achieved. The Scheme does not assure or guarantee any returns.
What is the suitability of this scheme?
The scheme is suitable for investors who have the objective of wealth creation (by investing into equity) as well as tax saving.
What is the asset allocation?
The scheme shall invest a minimum of 80% and a maximum of 100% in equity and equity-related instruments. The balance, between 0% to 20%, would stay invested in debt securities including money market instruments.

The Fund follows a top-down and bottom-up approach to select the best quality companies in the sectors that offer best economic potential.

The fund is being managed by Mr. Kartik Soral.
How has the fund performed?
Shriram Long Term Equity Fund is a new scheme and does not have any performance track record.
What is the minimum investment amount?
Minimum investment amount is Rs. 500/- and in multiples of Rs. 500/- thereafter. Under Systematic Investment Plan, the minimum amount is Rs. 500/- monthly and Rs. 1,500/- quarterly.
Is there any entry – exit load?
There is no entry load or exit load.
What is the tax treatment of investment of Shriram Long Term Equity Fund?
As per the current tax law (2018-19), dividends are tax-free in the hands of the investor. Long-term capital gains, after the 3-year lock-in, shall be tax free upto Rs. 1 lakh; capital gains exceeding Rs. 1 Lakh shall be taxed at the rate of 10% without allowing the benefit of any indexation.
